Sometimes it's the best to look for easy solutions or to find them in other parts of our sport. If I say you could lose 300- 500 g on a complete bike without spending any money, most people would say it would not be possible- but it is so easy.
Current seat/ post combos can be reduced to about 350 to 300g with a little work to them, but than that has already cost us money or at least some hours of work.
Now KHE has just left out the heavy parts of the seat and the seat post, that is the rails and the clamping of the post.
The prototype, as seen on the photo, weights in at 190g, the production model should be about 170g, that is the total weight of seat and seat post. The seat is parallel to the top tube so it should appeal to the majority of the riders.
Besides the designs showed above there are more to come and the cost for one combo will be in the range of a standard sattle. Of course, there will be a lot of controversy and what did they say about the UNI seat for racing a long time ago? "“Of course everyone was already used to sitting on non-padded, hard plastic seats so the UNI Seat was just a lighter version of no comfort sitting.” The new version for street (ab)use is supposed to be much more comfortable.
Hell yeah, a good looking and money saving weight reducing possibility in the dark times of zip ties.
